U5 Outdoor Program
About the U5 Outdoor Program
The primary focus of our U5 program is fun while building basic physical literacy skills. For more information on the Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) Grassroots program, visit Festival Play (PTM) - Alberta Soccer.
At this age level, ASA believes that players benefit most from hands-on experience and learning soccer basics through active engagement. The goal is to ensure that all players are continuously involved by providing ample opportunities for ball touches.
Program Structure:
- No Teams: ASA’s grassroots program does not organize teams for this age group.
- Four Rotating Stations: Players will rotate through the following stations:
- General Movement
- Soccer Technique
- Coordination
- Small-Sided Games
Each station lasts 12-15 minutes to ensure maximum engagement and ball touches for every player.
Key Goals for U5 Players:
- Fun: The most important element is for children to enjoy the experience.
- Learning Direction: Players will get accustomed to following instructions and working with others.
- Coordination & Confidence: The program aims to help children develop coordination and build self-confidence in a supportive, active environment.
