Coach Info

Coach Questions:

Thanks for your interest in coaching! We appreciate our volunteers! Follow the steps below:

Experience is an asset but not required!
Most of our coaches start out with lots of enthusiasm and very little soccer knowledge, so do not let this stop you from signing up to coach
We pay for our coaches to take the CSA/ASA Long Term Player Development Coaching Courses (formerly called NCCP Courses). These courses are interesting, fun, useful, helpful and definitely worth a few hours of your time.

How do I become a volunteer coach?

  1. Please register as a coach in the RAMP registration system. ONLINE REGISTRATION LINK
  2. CRC with VRC must be completed. Get a copy of a letter from the club.
  3. We now can put you on a roster
  4. U9-U19 coaches will need an EMSA E- Card
  5. Complete the age appropriate online NCCP course
  6. Complete the "Coaching Soccer in Canada" module
  7. Complete the "Understanding the Rule of Two" module
  8. Respect in Sport

The Alberta Soccer Association requires all coaches to have completed the appropriate coaching course.

I’ve never coached before, and I may not know the sport at all. Can I still coach a team?

Absolutely we encourage parents to step up and volunteer. We want to keep all players playing and without coaches stepping up, it's just not possible.

Are there any perks associated with coaching?

We have introduced a coach incentive program starting the 2022 outdoor season. Our coaches will receive a rebate of the registration fees at the end of the season when the equipment for their team is returned along with their volunteer deposit refund. Rebates are:

U5/U7 coaches will receive 10% of the registration fee.

U9 - U19 coaches will receive 10% for the first year of the incentive program and then 5% increase for every year they have coached (U9 - U19) after that.

The rebate will be applied to one registration fee of a child on the team that the coach is coaching. E.g.  If there are 2 children on one team the rebate will be applied to one child's registration fees. If the coach coaches 2 teams with a child on each, the rebate will be applied to both children.

Do You Have a Junior Coaching program?

We sure do, we are proud to have a Junior Coaching program. We are placing volunteers from the ages of 13 to 18 who are interested in coaching teams. We feel that junior coaches bring a fresh perspective to a team and gain skills to become great coaches. These coaches are not only a great asset to their teams but also will add to the future Fort Sask Soccer’s coaching program.  All Junior coaches will be placed with a senior coach who will serve as a mentor to the junior coach. Fort Saskatchewan Soccer has a place where everyone belongs, this includes on and off the field.

To register as a Junior Coach, you follow all the steps as a regular coach. Please note any coach under the age of 18 does not require a CRC.
