Referee Certification

Only Referees registered and certified by the Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) can referee in Fort Saskatchewan.

It is the referee’s responsibility to ensure he/she meets all ASA requirements and is on the ASA’s list of registered referees.

If you are new to refereeing:

Becoming a Referee

Note: Fort Saskatchewan is not hosting a mini referee or entry-level course this spring. In order to become an ASA qualified referee, you’ll have to take a course elsewhere. There are often plenty offered in the Edmonton area.

If you are a 1st year returning referee:

  1. You’ll need to register as a referee for the upcoming “refereeing year” which is April 1st-March 31st  Registration
  2. You’ll need to complete the indoor or outdoor questionnaire (whichever is the next upcoming season). This is done through the Registration tab on RefCentre. This is the website you would have used to sign up for your mini or entry-level course you took within the past year.
  3. You’ll need to take a refresher course for the indoor or outdoor season (whichever is the next upcoming season). This is also done through the Registration tab on RefCentre.

If you are a returning referee:

Hopefully you remember what to do! If not, follow steps 1-3 right above.

Fort Saskatchewan will offer an ASA refresher course for each indoor and outdoor season.
